Sustainability

A circular sugar, power and ethanol value chain — built on the same stream of cane.

At Dollex, sustainability isn't a separate programme bolted onto operations. It is the operating model: every by-product of our crushing line is either co-gen fuel, a soil input, or feedstock for the distillery we are building.

The circular thesis

Cane enters the gate once — but its molecules pay back four ways.

The traditional sugar mill optimises for one output: white sugar. Dollex is built around a different premise. The fibre becomes the fuel that powers the mill. The clarification residue becomes the compost that conditions the next season’s cane. And the molasses becomes the feedstock for the ethanol that displaces imported crude under India’s EBP programme.

Each of these flows would, in a less integrated operation, be a cost line or a waste stream. At Dollex, they are revenue lines or shared infrastructure. That is what makes the model durable — economically and environmentally.

Pillars

Four pillars of how Dollex thinks about its environmental and social footprint.

Energy

Biomass-fired captive power

100% of our bagasse — the fibrous residue left after crushing — is fired in our 3 MW co-generation plant to power the mill. We do not flare or open-burn cane residue at the unit.

Soil

Press-mud back to the farm

Press-mud, a high-organic-matter by-product of clarification, is returned to growers as a soil conditioner. This closes a nutrient loop: what leaves the field as cane returns to it as compost.

Fuel

Ethanol for the national blending programme

Our planned 200 KLPD distillery is being built to feed India's Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) programme — displacing imported crude with domestic, biomass-derived bio-fuel.

People

Farmer-first cane payments

Cane is paid for transparently against FRP, SAP and recovery-linked bonuses, with statutory deductions reconciled and disbursed directly to grower accounts via NACH.

Looking ahead

Operationalising disclosure: BRSR-aligned reporting as the company scales.

As Dollex grows beyond its initial NSE SME listing, we are progressively building out the data foundations to support Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) disclosures — energy intensity, water draw, emissions, supplier engagement and community impact — so that our sustainability story stands on numbers, not assertions.
